Chesepiooc

The Chesepiooc Collection, designed by Andrew Grider, is an exploration of the Chesapeake Bay’s rich history, artfully brought to life through a playful sophisticated array of textiles. Each pattern in the collection is a testament to the Bay’s cultural and natural heritage, with designs that weave together elements of history and the region's lush landscapes. From the intricate embroideries that capture the delicate flora and fauna of the Bay to the textured weaves that evoke the depth of its waters, every pattern is a story waiting to be told.

The collection invites you to journey through the Chesapeake, where the past meets the present in a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Rich, saturated tones mirror the Bay’s serene sunrises and deep waters, while the interplay of bold motifs and subtle textures creates a dynamic yet timeless aesthetic. Whether adorning a grand sitting room or a cozy retreat, the Chesepiooc Collection is designed to flow seamlessly throughout the home, bringing a sense of refined elegance to every space.

Path

Taking a collection of arrowheads found in the woodlands and shoreline in southern Maryland and placing them into the quilt pattern of flying geese.

Algonquian

Etchings by early explorer John White studying the tribes of the region. “A festive dance” and “Rulers in Virginia” are framed as if jasperware by the later Josiah Wedgewood.

Vermicelli

An enlarged iteration of what is normally a background pattern is taken to the forefront.

Tributary

This pattern is a kaleidoscope of the Chesapeake Bay’s waterways for a somewhat suzani appearance.

Millefret

Macaronis in a larger-than-life garden inspired by millefleur tapestries at the Louvre. All images are 18th-century prints of botanical studies and ones of macaroni fashion for a lively garden scene between exuberant flowers and effeminate individuals.
